Consulting session Our consulting is done over a series of sessions tailored to your need. Prior to the first session, I will phone you to discuss how the sessions will work, and ask you for necessary admin details. I will tell you what you need to do to get the best from the sessions. The initial session The initial session seeks to understand your background and situation. I will talk about parents, siblings, role in family, education, as I learn how you operate. Agreement to continue At the end of this and future sessions, we will make an agreement to continue. Each session, and the series itself, focuses on helping both parties understand and deal with your situation in ways that work for you. We practise breathing to help settle the thinking and mood, and ask questions. What you have learned. What you have decided to do. How will you feel as the sessions progress? Feelings can vary between highs and lows as issues emerge and get described. There are ‘Aha’ moments of realisation, and these may lift, though sometimes in a particular session a reversion may take place. A complete letting go normally leads to calmness and assurance, and this process occurs over the sessions. The sessions aim to move you to place you want to be. Sometimes the end of each session may leave you in a difficult place, and I will work with you to resolve this at a following session. This is both unavoidable and also a natural part of the process. I am always there at the end of the phone. Anita Jackson is a trained consultant and has a PGDip Psychosynthesis Counselling and Teacher/Dip Imagework.
